Frugal Fashionista Clothing Swap is Reaching Out for Donations! See our latest video of our last clothing swap!

Banner donated by Banner Envy on Etsy!

I'm so proud to announce that the Frugal Fashionista Clothing Swap now has 1,650 members in our Meetup Group! We started out with 33 swappers and are now the largest clothing swap on the East Coast; probably the largest swap in the United States!

We are more than just a Meetup, we are a MOVEMENT!

Come take a look at our website

Sign up and attend one of our fabulous clothing swaps or get in touch to donate items for our raffles and / or swag bags! We are looking for donations that are raffle prize worthy in order to raise money for the following organizations:

  • RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network)
  • NOMORE (Anti Sexual Assault and Abuse)
  • The Polaris Group / Project (Anti-Sex Trafficking)
The Frugal Fashionista Clothing Swap has been servicing the community for over 7 years and hold one clothing swap every other month. All of our remaining clothing is donated to local domestic violence shelters and all money raised through entry fees ($10), raffle prize money and through the sale of vendor table rentals. ($35 per table)

We hold our events in two locations, both in Alexandria, Virginia and have a wonderful group of people who are now what we call the volunteer support team. They pay half price for entry and are able to choose 5 items before the swap starts! If you are interested in volunteering, please see our website and get in touch with Dianna Moy or Jean Witz. They handle all the volunteers and schedules. Dianna is my co-organizer and I couldn't do what I do without her! I couldn't do this without my entire support team! If you are among that group and are reading this- here is a giant thank you! (((HUGS)))

Raffle Prizes & Swag Bags:
Each year, at about this time, I turn to the good people of Etsy and request donations for us to use as raffle prizes as well as for small sample sized items to stuff our swag bags with. I make up about 40-50 swag bags per swap and pass them out first to my volunteers and then to the first people who are waiting in line. The items I need to fill these bags are sample sized soaps, perfumes, lotions, makeup and makeup remover, nail polish and nail decals, coupons for free items - anything small that can be sent in numbers of 45-50. You can send your business cards as well and I will also include those in the swag bags.

The raffle items can be anything really. Anything worthy of a prize, usually within the $25- $40 range. In the past we have received jewelry, purses, handmade decor, gift baskets (which are a favorite), stamped notebooks / journals, gift cards etc.

We are so grateful for any donation we receive and I personally promote the donor's websites on FB, twitter and Pinterest, along with a photo of their donation! We also promote your shop on our main meetup website along with links and pics! My way of saying thank you and making your donation help your business as well!

We get donations from all over the United States as well as from Canada and abroad (Switzerland, Australia, Britain, Spain, Germany, France) If you would like to donate to help our cause (raising funds for anti domestic violence organizations), please contact me! Your donation can be sent to the following address:

Kim Pratt
18406 Cabin Rd
Triangle, VA 22172

If requested, I will also send a tax receipt! Please drop me a note with the dollar amount and make sure your return address is legible so I can get in touch with you and send your thank you card!

I have been banned from Etsy because soliciting is not allowed and there were a number of complaints. Why people would make a complaint about such an amazing this just baffles me. They could just ignore me but the world takes all kinds. Because of this, I can no longer communicate through Etsy's messaging system so please contact me through email, phone or Facebook.

I can also be reached on FB at:

Or you may call me (Kim) at 571-931-6808 up until 7PM (EST)

Please enjoy some recent pics of our swaps as well as a video from our latest swap earlier this month!

Happy Mother's Day to ALL of my Frugal Fashionistas!!! I can't even wait until the June 20th, 2015 Swap!

Hello to all of my Frugal Fashionistas and Happy Mother's Day!
Our next swap is almost here and I am so excited. It killed me to make the decision to cancel the April Swap but as you know, having less than 50 people is just not worth it to anyone! Not enough clothing is brought to make it worth YOUR while or for the domestic violence shelter. So much work goes into these fabulous swaps, which I could never do alone - To all of you who volunteer and to the Swap Support Team... I thank you for helping to make our swap what it is!

Come Join us for a fun and fashion filled day of swapping!

When? Saturday, June 20th, 2015 (the day before Father's Day)

Where? Lincolnia Senior Center at 4710 North Chambliss St., Alexandria, VA

We are now requesting that you actually sign up for our events so we don't run into the same trouble as the April Swap.

Please, go to www.frugalfashionistaclothingswap.org to sign up and please do include your guests in the RSVP so we may get an accurate head count. We've had swaps with over 200 people... Please spread the word on your social media profiles about our AMAZING group and all the good we do for the domestic violence shelters and for RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network)

So go, go now and sign up! All the information for the swap is on the website under JUNE SWAP.

Can't wait to see my regulars and also meet some new swappers!

Frugal Fashionista Clothing Swap™ Upcoming Swaps

Click here to sign up for a Frugal Fashionista Clothing Swap!

The Frugal Fashionista Clothing Swap™ has found a new location in Alexandria to hold the monthly clothing swaps. Thanks to our wonderful dj kat of "the express dj's" we have secured a 4000 square foot space that has mirrors along one whole wall! I checked out the space yesterday and since it was so fabulous and right on the transit line, I booked dates for May 24th (plus size swap) and june 28th (all size swap)

We will still hold the April 26th Swap at the West Springfield High School
6100 Rolling Rd. Springfield, VA 22152 at 1:00 (clothing drop off at 11:30)

ADDRESS OF NEW LOCATION STARTING IN MAY: Lincolnia Senior Center - 4710 North Chambliss Street, Alexandria, VA 22152

Please go to http://www.wmata.com/ to get directions. I do NOT know what bus /train you should take so you MUST go to above website to plan your route.

Guests are to check in with their clothing at 12:30, pay their $7 donation (or show proof that you pre-paid $5 at paypal - make payment to kim@ffclothingswap.com)

There will be no "waiting line" as we are using a new facility and they have requested that our members wait in the cafeteria down the hall. There are seats outside of the room but you are NOT to wait there.
Please go to the cafeteria.
After you drop off your items, you are expected to leave and come back at 2:00. Or you can hang around, maybe shop with the vendors that will be set up (bring some cash- there will be lots to choose from)... and enjoy our DJ Kat who will be entertaining us again! I will open the swap up 5 minutes early to those who volunteered to help set up. Each volunteer can choose 4 items for themselves in the 5 minutes given. There will be a 50/50 raffle to benefit the school's debate team so please bring a few bucks if you plan on purchasing a ticket or two.

SarahJean is our new volunteer coordinator. Please message her directly on Meetup if you would like to be a volunteer. Spaces for volunteering are limited and each volunteer will be given a badge to identify them so if you are really wanting to volunteer, contact SarahJean soonest to make sure you get a spot.

We are also open to vendors for this swap for the mere price of $50.00 per table plus 1 item to raffle! Tables go fast so if you would like a spot, please contact me early! kim@ffclothingswap.com
If you plan on purchasing anything from any of the vendors listed on the left- please remember to bring cash - - -
DJ KAT will be laying down tunes for our swap so come prepared to dance!
Some money will be recouped for the soda I provide & any supplies I purchase  and the rest will go to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network)

Swap from 2PM - 4PMish - we will pack up earlier than 4 if everyone clears out early. Please come on time;)Clothing drop off from 12:30-1:30 Volunteers - please arrive at 12:15 to set up the tables. Please be prompt as we have less time to set up now.

Make sure clothing is clean, no stains, no holes, rips or tears and no broken buttons or zippers. If you would be PROUD to pass it on to your girlfriends, than you should bring it. Please do not bring undergarments. To avoid having stained and ripped items as some people bring regardless of the rules, we now reserve the right to go through your clothing at the drop off point to ensure your items are decent enough to swap. Please don't embarress yourselves by bringing undesirable clothing.  We're looking for clothing from any season for this swap. If you should find something unswappable on any of the tables, please remove it. No one should be disappointed because it's everyone's jobs to police the tables for non-wearables;)

If you are bringing guests, please ensure to add them to your RSVP.

Last, but not least, bring your swaptastik attitude and plan to come and have a blast!
Please take pictures of yourselves with your swap finds and post it on meetup and facebook! We'd love to see what you all have found!

Happy Swapping!
Kim
PS. Do not volunteer to help in the comments section... Contact SarahJean on Meetup to get on the volunteer list. If you show up to help and you are not on the list, there will NOT be a spot for you. Last swap we had way too many volunteers so this should help streamline things.

New and Improved Frugal Fashionista Clothing Swap

Well it sure has been awhile since I have posted here and there have been so many upgrades and changes that I must share!

We now host larger events at the West Springfield High School where we can easily fit 300 people! We have a DJ who lays down some awesome tunes named DJ Kat! She makes the whole swap like a kick ass party!

We have been hosting local vendors at our swaps so our fashionistas can shop if they like from a variety of fashion type stores. It's a pop up shop before and during the swap.

We have been sponsored by Vocelli's Pizza ~ We got rid of the potluck and have been enjoying the wonderful pizza, salad and cookies that they have been provided free of cost - food has been paid for by Margaaa Services   - a local carpet cleaning and restoration business.

We have been hosting plus size clothing swaps - alternating between the regular swaps at the high school cafeteria and the governmental center.

Our next swap is at the West Springfield High School At 6100 Rolling Rd. Springfield, VA 22152

Swap date is June 15th - clothing drop off from 11:30-12:00 and swap starts promptly at 1:00. Feel free to hang around after you drop your clothing off and enjoy the food courtesy of Vocelli's Pizza and shop the vendors who will be ready to share their wares with you!

We now charge a $5.00 entry fee to participate. Half the money goes to the school's debate team for allowing us to use their cafeteria space and if we are using the governmental center, half the money collected is donated to RAINN (Rape Abuse and Incest National Network) We sell raffle tickets for a 50/50 and also for prizes that I have collected from various businesses on the Internet. Swag bags are given out to the first 20 people in line and they are filled with donated goodies from various businesses -

It's really turned into something great so if you are in the Metro DC / Alexandria VA area - join our group and come to one of our amazing clothing swaps!

Sign up at Eventbright.com or www.frugalfashionistaclothingswap.org

We now have over 1,300 members in our swap group and are growing every day! It's important to sign up just as soon as the swap gets posted because the spots fill up amazingly fast! If you are a vendor, you'll need to sign up and pay for your table ($50) right away because those spots fill up fast too. We can only host 10-15 vendors so sign up for the group to get automated updates about new swaps and shows!

Hope to see you at the swaps!
